ABD Quilt for 100th Reunion 2025

The Quilting Project for the 100th Annual Reunion is in the final stage of production. The quilt contains 35 blocks making the dimensions 7 blocks by 5 blocks. This legacy quilt will be donated to the Orangetown Historical Museum and Archives in Orangeburg, NY. However, the quilt will be shown at the Annual Reunion this year and next year, September 2027.
The quilt will be in the hospitality room at the Double Tree Hilton during our stay and at the Annual Meeting at the Old Stone Church in Upper Saddle River, NJ. We are developing some memorabilia to share with the ABD membership depicting the entire quilt or the block you made, etc.
If you remember, when the Elizabeth Griffith’s quilt was made in 1852, one the women, Eliza Cooper, created a poem about the contributors. I am also going to write a poem about each quilt block maker. It will be simple, but I hope it will capture the spirit of each block. If anyone needs to contact me: bahaulenbeek@gmail.com

A Dutch Girl (Sun Bonnet Sue) pieced and appliqued and even blanket stitch embroidery around the edges.
My sister-in-law’s block in progress. You can see she used 4 ABD gold colors to make the tulips and mixed greens for the stems/leaves on an ABD blue base. She is sewing the tulips to the block (applique). I can send extra pieces of fabric if you wish to remain totally in the ABD scheme.
